Where are the shadows?

It is the Zero shadow day today. At least those in Bengaluru will ‘witness’ these zero shadows. The sun remains directly overhead, and no shadows will be formed on the earth’s surface. This means that the sun reaches its highest point in the sky which results in the reduction of the length of the shadow to the extent that it is no longer visible. Practically speaking no shadows today!

The scientific explanation is fine, but it has clouded my brains with various question.

For starters, will those with Sciophobia finally have a day out in the sun?

Will those, who are told that they cannot jump over their shadow, stand up this day to be counted?

Or will those who are constantly jumping over one’s shadow have an easier day now that there aren’t any to jump over?

And will those past moments that cast a long shadow on the future, for once disappear?

Will this day provide the right momentum to those who have been living under someone’s shadow. For leaving aside someone else’s even their own shadow may not  be seen. So do they use this day to announce their liberation?

Without a shadow of doubt, the boxers would make merry. Used to throwing a flurry of punches without bothering if any of  it lands or not, they should be at home shadow-boxing on a no shadow day too. Shouldn’t they?

And what happens to those who are shadowing someone, will they stop tailing them?

Can someone this day jump in from the shadows?

And how will one identify the false shadows which are exposed when  the sun shines bright? How on earth can one cast a dark shadow this day?

And those who have been a shadow of themselves will they now face some new existential crisis?

And those who are chasing shadows, do they give up now?

I have worn myself (and you readers too who are still with me) to a shadow.

Maybe I am trying to catch the shadow and losing the substance.

Oh wait, but then there are no shadows today, right?

Will, just enjoy the no shadow day.
